BENEFITS FROM SICKNESS BRANCH
Legal basis:
a) Articles 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, Law no 7703, dated 11.05.1993 “On Social Insurance in the Republic of Albania”, amended;
Eligibility conditions:
a) Sickness benefits are paid only to employees;
b) The first 14 days are paid by the entity where the beneficiary is working;
c) After the 14th day of sickness, sickness-leave certificates are issued by Medical and Legal Commission, while Social Insurance covers payment of benefit. Calculation of benefits are always made by entity itself;
d) Sickness leave is paid for an up to 6 month period, including coverage with payment of the first 14 days.
3. Documentation:
a) The employee must submit to the entity where he/she is working the following documents:
b) Sickness-leave certificates;
c) Work booklet;
d) Standard form of previous year assessment base. (This document is completed by finance sector of the entity);
e) Entity’s finance sector, based on documents under item “a”, shall complete the standard payroll form for short term benefits and send it to the relevant LSIA;
f) After checking and verifying the documents submitted, LSIA shall deliver payments to personal account of the beneficiary or to the account of the entity.
4. Benefit amount:
a) 70% of the average daily assessment base of the last calendar year, when the insured has completed up to 10 years of insurance;
b) 80% of the average daily assessment base of the last calendar year, when the insured has completed over 10 years of insurance.
